Welcome to VCOM 55

A basic course in the designing using Macromedia Dreamweaver CS5 for the Macintosh and PC. Topics covered include: Introduction to the thought process in organizing, and creating a simple web site with hypertext links to secondary pages, e mail addresses, and graphic link. In addition, lectures will cover what formats are required for photographs and graphics and optimization, site management and creating files compatible for all web browsers. Other areas covered are functions of Dreamweaver’s toolbar, tables, css positioning.

05/16/12 Review FTP and browser lab

  • Adobe Browserlab for testing different browsers, Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox on Mac and Windows or using our browsers in the lab with virtualbox.
  • Reviewed FTP and had students upload, corebrand, simple site, and  ten page css site.
  • Needed to see either wireframe or design layout with all divs, widths, heights, margins, etc. to in order to be graded on 10 page css site during finals.
  • Open lab to help students with 10 page css site.

05/10/12 Final 10 page css website requirements

  • PDF: 10 page css website requirements
  • You should testing on the different  browsers, Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 12, Chrome 18, Safari 5.1+ on both platforms, Mac & Windows.
  • I realize that you are still in the creation mode of the 10 page website, but preview in Internet Explorer and the other browser to see if there are problems so you can resolve it in the creation state.
  • The lab has Internet Explorer using Virtualbox.

04/05/12 Good News about website server

  • Class, I was able to fix the server where you FTPed (uploaded your corebrand site to).
  • I had to upload the directories (folders) with your last names again if there is a problem, contact me since I may have manually misspelled your name.
  • Upload your corebrand website again.

04/05/12 Updated info on simple css 2 page site

  • I reviewed the the 03/28/12 post and it is mentioned that links will be styled. To be specific now, I want links styled with font family, font size, line height, color, and the visited and hover rules.
  • I am grading related to the 03/28/12 post so review and make the necessary changes.
